ROCK RUBBER 45s is a master class exploring the connectivity of global basketball, sneaker, and music lifestyle through the firsthand experiences of authentic NYC culture orchestrator Bobbito García. The class explores García’s ascension to self-determination as an adult freelance creative over five decades. The ballplayer/author/DJ/filmmaker has carved an independent career that has inspired millions throughout the world, and has affected the growth and direction of the footwear, hip hop, and sports industries in the process.
Students will have an opportunity to watch the autobiographical documentary titled Rock Rubber 45s, and then join a virtual group discussion with Bobbito to discuss the process of working for oneself in the creative economy space. A downloadable hand out will be provided with steps so that all can leave the class with a template to pursue. Questions will be invited, and answered, during the session.
